Christal Nelson specializes in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Substance Counseling. She obtained her Bachelor’s in Psychology in 2014 and Masters in Professional Counseling in 2016, from Liberty University. Christal’s experience ranges from working with various ages and disorders in private settings, on community support teams, intensive in-home programs, and group therapy. Before transitioning into the mental health field, she completed a 13-year tenure in EMS (Emergency Medical Services) and Medical Transport. It’s this background, that drives her passion in counseling trauma and addiction. Christal’s unique experience as an immigrant reminds her to create a space of acceptance, for all cultures and identities. Throughout therapy, Christal uses various modalities of treatment including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectal Behavioral Therapy and she is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization). However, because each client is unique, each modality of therapy used during the session is based on the client’s needs.
