Substance use disorder (SUD) in Rockingham County, NC, and substance use disorder in Caswell County, NC can be treated through the MAT program.

The MAT Program combines the use of medications in combination with counseling to provide a patient-centered, whole-patient approach to the treatment of substance use disorder. The MAT Program is effective at reducing cravings and withdrawal symptoms, which allows for an easier stay in treatment and achieve long-term recovery for patients.

The MAT Program Approach

Medication, particularly Buprenorphine, is a partial opioid agonist, which means that it binds to the same opioid receptors in the brain as other opioids, but it doesn’t produce the same level of intoxication.

In addition to medication, the Medication Assisted Treatment Program at CHC incorporates counseling and behavioral therapies which helps the person understand their addiction and develop coping mechanisms for dealing with their cravings and change their behaviors to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
