Mission: To provide excellent, patient-centered healthcare to all.
Vision: Healthy people, healthy communities.
Values: Compassion | Commitment | Integrity | Excellence | Equity
Compassion Health Care, Inc. (CHC) has served as a trusted health partner for its community since 1978. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, CHC was founded on a simple but powerful belief that everyone deserves access to high-quality health care, no matter their circumstances or ability to pay. Today, this mission continues to guide the organization’s work across north-central North Carolina in Caswell and Rockingham Counties and the surrounding region.
CHC operates comprehensive primary care sites that deliver family medicine, behavioral health and psychiatry, preventive care, chronic disease management, substance use treatment, and urgent care services. Patients also benefit from enabling and care management services designed to remove barriers, improve outcomes, and ensure coordinated, patient-centered care. Through its mobile school-based health program and expanding community partnerships, CHC continues to reach individuals and families where they are, strengthening early access and building healthier futures for youth and underserved populations.
The organization’s Board of Directors represents the communities served, ensuring that the voice of the patient remains at the center of CHC’s mission, strategy, and accountability. With a dedicated clinical and administrative team, CHC has continually demonstrated resilience, innovation, and a commitment to access and quality in rural health care delivery. The organization is recognized for its quality improvement achievements and its focus on bridging gaps in care through expanded access, integrated services, and community collaboration.
The organization has strong financial reserves and has recognized many years of effective and positive performance year over year.
The organization currently has approximately 75 employees, most of whom are permanent full-time.
Compassion Health Care, Inc. serves a uniquely positioned rural region in north-central North Carolina, providing care to communities across Caswell and Rockingham Counties. The area is characterized by strong community ties, a slower pace of life, and the natural beauty of rolling farmland and historic town centers, offering a welcoming and affordable place to live and work.
While rooted in a rural setting, CHC’s service area enjoys convenient access to vibrant urban centers and cultural destinations. Danville, Virginia, a growing hub of economic development, higher education, and recreation, is just minutes away. Larger metropolitan areas, including Greensboro and the Research Triangle region of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, are also within easy reach, providing access to world-class universities, major health systems, arts and entertainment, international travel, and diverse dining and cultural amenities.
This unique blend of rural community and proximity to urban resources offers the best of both worlds for those seeking meaningful work and a balanced lifestyle. CHC’s location positions the organization to serve as both an anchor for rural health and a connector to broader regional networks, ensuring that patients and staff benefit from strong local relationships as well as accessible, regional opportunities for growth, collaboration, and innovation.
