CFMC’s Marketing & Outreach Coordinator is accepted into the 2017-2018 Middle Border Forward Fellowship Program

Yanceyville, NC, September 19, 2017– Ryan Millner of Caswell Family Medical Center was recently accepted as a fellow for the 2017-2018 Middle Border Forward Fellowship Program.

Middle Border Forward is an independent nonprofit organization whose mission is to “cultivate inclusive leadership, inspire community engagement and create equitable access to opportunities” throughout the City of Danville, Pittsylvania County, and Caswell County.

Millner, Marketing and Outreach Coordinator for CFMC, has been living in Caswell County for less than a year now but has a family history with deep roots here.

Millner moved to his family’s farm in Providence, NC in 2016 after living his entire life in South Florida, but visited the area every year since he was a child to see his grandparents on their tobacco farm. Since being here, he has recognized several needs in the community and is dedicated to being a part of a positive change within Caswell County and surrounding areas.

“After my wife and I had our second little girl, we decided that we wanted a better life than what we could give them in South Florida, so we chose to live in Caswell County. I’ve been asked several times why I would want to leave there and come here. I’d like to be a part of making Caswell County, Danville and Pittsylvania a place where people ask, ‘why would you ever want to leave here and go there?’”. – Ryan Millner – Caswell Family Medical Center Marketing & Outreach Coordinator

Through the Fellowship Program at MBF, Fellows will be introduced to opportunities and challenges within the middle border region. The purpose is to encourage engagement within the community and to create a “network of Change Agents”.

“This year’s applicant pool was very competitive,” says Jennifer Gregory, MBF’s executive director, “I think this speaks to the success of the current fellowship class and the increased awareness of the MBF Movement. We are eager to embrace this new class and to help them become more engaged in making our region the best it can be.”

The MBF Fellowship will last for close to a year and include important community topics such as education, environment, social & human services, and health & wellness to name a few.

“CFMC is fortunate to have Ryan on our staff and wholeheartedly supports his passion to see Caswell realize as much of its potential as possible,” says William Crumpton, CFMC’s Chief Executive Officer.

“I’m excited to get started”, Millner says. “While health & wellness is a huge concern in our community, I’m dedicated to helping make a change wherever I can with this great group of people in this year’s MBF Fellowship”.
