Caswell Cancer Resource Fund Receives Grant for 2020

27 Jan 2020 Cancer, CFMC News, Grants

The Caswell Cancer Resource Fund (CCRF) received over $21,000 from the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region to help continue assisting those in the Caswell community who have been affected by cancer in one form or another.

“This generous funding from the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region is a huge step forward for the CCRF. We have been able to bless many people of every age, ethnicity, background, and gender who have been overwhelmed by the financial burdens that come with this terrible disease. Cancer is a battle that can be fought with willpower and determination, and if we can help bring that out in those who are suffering from cancer by alleviating some of the financial burden, then we are on the right path to ensuring high success rates in our community. Residents of Caswell County who have been affected by cancer will be able to make it to a doctor’s visit that was once considered impossible, make a co-pay for medication that was once thought to be too expensive, receive a wig or bra that was once thought to be out of reach, and simply make it through another day knowing that there is help.” – Lou Ann Reaves, Caswell Cancer Resource Fund

The CCRF, awarded by the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region is a partnership with several organizations within the county, including the Caswell County Health Department, Caswell Senior Services, Caswell County Department of Social Services, Caswell EMS, Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, and North Village Pharmacy.

The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region was established in 1996 by a steering committee of civic leaders to gather permanent funds to support the region. The vision of the Foundation is to “recognize needs and provide resources to improve the quality of life in our community and to serve the wishes of our donors.”
