Position Overview

Compassion Health Care is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to join our Revenue Cycle team. This role is responsible for completing daily billing tasks for provider services and managing accounts receivable while supporting efficient clinic operations.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to Compassion Health Care’s values of compassion, commitment, integrity, excellence, and equity. This position may also be cross-trained in other areas of the organization to support operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Audit provider charges daily to ensure proper utilization of diagnosis and procedure codes
• Code medical services accurately and in accordance with payer guidelines
• Post patient payments and provide receipts per CHC protocols
• Manage and administer the Sliding Fee Program
• Explain the Sliding Fee Program to patients and assist with enrollment
• Maintain and update the Sliding Fee patient database and send correspondence as needed
• Work claims and denials, and follow up on unpaid or overdue balances
• Collect overdue payments and assist patients with payment plans as appropriate
• Collaborate with front desk staff to resolve insurance verification and payment issues
• Assist with special projects as assigned by the Revenue Cycle Manager
• Cross-train to support month-end eClinical reports and credentialing duties as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma required
• Training and/or certification in medical office coding and/or billing experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of insurance billing processes
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Computer proficiency and experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems

Work Schedule & Location

• Full-time position (40 hours per week)
• Monday-Friday schedule
• No weekends or holidays
• In-person role in a family practice setting

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver’s license required if duties include driving, in accordance with CHC policy
• Must meet Compassion Health Care’s employment eligibility requirements, including pre-employment drug testing and criminal background screening
